Research Use Only. Peptides Lab UK supplies research-grade materials for in-vitro laboratory research only. Nothing on this page is medical advice or an instruction for human or animal use, and no product sold on this website is a medicine.
Scope
This page describes general aseptic handling of research peptides in a laboratory: preparing, labelling and storing solutions for in-vitro work. It does not describe administration to humans or animals; any animal work must be carried out only under the appropriate licences (in the UK, the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986) and institutional protocols.
Aseptic preparation
- Work in a clean area or biosafety cabinet with appropriate PPE.
- Allow vials to reach room temperature before opening to reduce condensation.
- Disinfect septa before puncture and use sterile, single-use consumables.
- Add diluent slowly down the vial wall and swirl gently rather than shaking.
Labelling and records
Label each solution with compound, lot, concentration, diluent, date and initials, and record the calculation used (see our concentration calculator).
Laboratory handling and storage
Lyophilised peptides are generally stored sealed, protected from light and moisture, at low temperature as specified on the certificate of analysis. Once reconstituted for in-vitro work, solutions are typically kept refrigerated and used within a validated stability window. Researchers should follow their institution’s procedures and the batch documentation (HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity) supplied with each lot.
Waste and sharps
Dispose of sharps and chemical waste in line with local regulations and your institution’s waste procedures.
UK regulatory status
In the UK, medicines are regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Research-grade compounds sold by Peptides Lab UK are supplied strictly for laboratory research; they are not medicinal products, are not manufactured to medicinal GMP standards and must not be used in humans or animals.
